How to use smart photo adjustments in iOS 8

iOS 8 brings a lot of new features to the Photos app. One of the biggest and most welcome additions is better control over editing and adjustments. Take a photo outside and think it's too bright? Or maybe there are shadows over part of the image that you don't think look quite right. Now iOS 8 can help you enhance images like never before with smart adjustments, and we can help you learn how to use them.

How to automatically adjust light with smart adjustments in iOS 8

  1. Launch the Photos app and select the photo you'd like to edit.
  2. Tap on Edit in the top right corner.
  3. Tap on the adjustments button in the bottom navigation — it looks like a dial with dots around it.
  4. Tap on Light.
  5. Move the slider to make changes to your photo. Lift up your finger when the photo looks as you would like it to.
  6. At any time, hold your finger on the photo to view the original in order to compare it to your edited version.
  7. When you're happy with the results, tap on Done in the bottom right hand corner and your changes will be saved.

  4. Tap on Revert in the bottom right hand corner.
  5. Tap Revert to Original in the popup menu.
