Beats' Iovine happy with free publicity from NFL ban

Despite a ban from the NFL as a result of an exclusive sponsorship with headphone-maker Bose, Beats still got the beats. A recent debacle involving 49ers Colin Kaepernick's $10,000 fine for wearing Beats hasn't hurt the company in the slightest, and Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine is happy with the media coverage amounting to roughly $2.14 million in free publicity.

Said Jimmy Iovine of the NFL ban:

I can't believe I'm this lucky. You can't buy what we got. How valuable is it for the whole country to say, 'These guys are cool?'

The controversy began when Kaepernick was seen wearing a pair of pink Beats headphones in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month after the NFL-Bose exclusive deal was in place.

Iovine goes on to speak about Apple, comparing their decision to buy Beats to their choice of Angela Ahrendts as the senior VP of retail and online sales.

What's your take? Do you agree with Iovine?
