Apple Store goes down ahead of today's iPad and iMac press event

If you were hoping to purchase a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus this morning from the online Apple Store, you may have to wait for several hours, as the company has taken the storefront down ahead of today's press event in Cupertino, California.

Don't panic; the store hasn't been hit by a hacker attack. This is the normal procedure that Apple follows ahead of a big hardware launch. The store will be up and running later today with a bunch of new products to sell. We already know that Apple will introduce a new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 tablet, thanks to a leak of a user guide on iBooks. It's also likely we will see some new iMacs revealed as well.

iMore will be on the ground and live blogging from the event in Cupertino so stay tuned all day today for first hand coverage.
