Apple details the iPad Air 2 iSight and Facetime cameras

The iPad Air 2 has only just been announced and one of the things Apple singled out to highlight was the 8MP rear iSight camera. It's pretty close in specs and features to that on the iPhone 6 with 1.12 micron pixels – compared to 1.5 microns on the iPhone – and ƒ/2.4 aperture. But beyond the hardware, Apple has also crammed many of its latest photo and video features into the new iPad.

We've got slow-mo video, timelapse, burst mode photo shooting and support for taking 43MP panorama shots. So if you're going to use your iPad for taking pictures, with the iPad Air 2 you're going to be taking better ones than any iPad before it.

Round the front the Facetime camera has an ƒ/2.2 aperture, 8x the light capture as before and support for burst mode selfies and single-shot HDR images.
