Apple announces faster A8X processor for the new iPad Air 2

Apple revealed at its press event today that it has a new processor, the A8X, inside its newly revealed iPad Air 2 tablet.

Apple claims that the A8X processor is its second generation 64-bit chip with three billion transistors. The CPU performance is 40 percent faster compared to the A7 that was released last year and its GPU performance is 2.5 times faster than the A7. Compared to the processor in the original iPad, the iPad Air 2 is 12 times faster in its CPU and has 180 times better graphics performance.
