The Apple Watch will reportedly be available in some high-end retail stores this Friday, despite its online-only availability from Apple directly.
According to a new report, the Apple Watch will be stocked and available for purchase from a number of select high-end retailers starting this Friday, April 24. The New York Times reports:
Dover Street Market in Tokyo and London (but not in New York), Maxfield in Los Angeles, Colette in Paris, the Corner in Berlin and 10 Corso Como in Milan are all "official" stockists of the watch. And, most are advertising it as "in-store 4.24.15" on their home pages.
Adrian Joffe, the chief executive of Dover Street Market, said the company would have approximately 350 Apple Watches in its Ginza store and 570 in London — though consumers in search of the gold Edition versions (with prices starting at $10,000) may be disappointed, as they are on back order.
Though it was reported last month that certain high-end shops would offer the Apple Watch, it wasn't expected that they would have the wearable available for purchase on launch day given Apple's online-only ordering approach for the initial launch.
While customers still won't be able to purchase an Apple Watch directly from physical Apple Stores until a later date, it looks like those who live near one of the above stores may be able walk in and purchase one (if they're quick) on Friday.
