As rumored last week, Universal Studios has finalized the purchase of the Steve Jobs biopic from Sony for a reported $30 million. Scripted by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, the movie is set to star Michael Fassbender in the lead role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A deal has been reached to bring the film about the Apple co-founder — which Danny Boyle is to direct from a script by Aaron Sorkin — to Universal, a studio spokesman confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday. According to sources, the project had been shopped with a price tag of more than $30 million.
Michael Fassbender is attached to star in the film, which is being produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.
Reportedly joining Fassbender are Seth Rogen, rumored to play Steve Wozniak, and Jessica Chastain, who will be cast as Steve Jobs' daughter. In an interview earlier this month, Sorkin talked about the pressure involved in writing the script, and that he would be focusing on key moments in the late Apple CEO's life via three thirty minute segments.
