'Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine', the latest documentary on the life of Apple's late co-founder, has been jointly acquired by CNN and Magnolia Pictures. The film made its debut this week at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

The film was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Alex Gibney. who previously directed documentaries such as 'Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room', 'We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks', and 'The Armstrong Lie'. His latest movie is "Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief.'

'The Man in the Machine' is said to be an honest and often critical look back at Jobs's life and career. According to Deadline:

Magnolia acquired theatrical, VOD and home entertainment rights and CNN Films has the television broadcast distribution rights. Magnolia has distributed seven of Gibney's films.

There's no word on when the film will get a general release to the public. A biopic of Steve Jobs, with actor Michael Fassbender in the title role, is scheduled to be released to theaters October 9.
